Volunteer Managers Forum

Information on the Volunteer Manager's Forum

Renfrewshire's Volunteer Manager Forum was formally established 2015 and that this point the Forum had 16 members, all of whom were third sector organisations. All were keen to work in partnership to establish a Forum in order to raise the profile of volunteering in Renfrewshire. They therefore firmed up and agreed 'Terms of Reference':

The 'Terms of Reference' are outlined below:

  • Share resources / best practice / be cohesive
  • Networking & events
  • Share volunteers
  • Have 'spotlight' sessions whereby groups will deliver briefs on their projects / organisations
  • Invite speakers
  • Hold bi-monthly meetings
  • Sub groups (example being to organise this event today)

Since its formation:

  • The Forum is Chaired by Karen Miller, Engage Renfrewshire
  • The Forum has significantly grown in terms of members (which in 2017 is now at 56)
  • Members are now from third sector, public & private sectors, partners and agencies
  • Many successes have been achieved by partnership working via the Forum – some examples being:
    • Annual Events to celebrate Volunteers – during volunteer week
    • Police Scotland - Annual Saltire Events (last two years)
    • UWS - Health & Integrated Social Care Student Volunteer Event
    • UWS – Marketing Students Volunteer Event
    • One Digital – Meet Up
    • Active Communities – Celebrating Saltire Summit Achiever
    • Syrian Refugee Celebration of Culture plus Saltire Awards
    • Renfrewshire High Schools – promoting suitable volunteer opportunities
    • 16+ Joint Employability Programme with Renfrewshire Wide Credit Union, White Cart Credit Union, Renfrewshire Access Panel and Shopmobility
    • Renfrewshire's Saltire Ambassadors – Establishment of a New Group
    • Active Communities / West of Scotland Regional Equality Council / Paisley YMCA – working in partnership to develop activities for young people
    • Renfrew YMCA – Working with young Syrian Teenagers plus pupils from Castlehead High School – whom are being peer mentored and supported
    • Invest in Renfrewshire – drop in on a Wednesday in Ferguslie to provide employment support and advice

Going forward:

  • The Forum will continue to meet bi-monthly and refresh this page periodically
